All the world’s language data in one place
More than 7,000 languages are spoken around the world today, but the internet is only fully accessible in under 2% of them. Imagine everything you read online being exclusively available in a language you can’t understand. Google Research has been working with communities to collect language samples from native speakers across the globe. This effort has led to the largest open-source repository of language data available. My team worked with the client to visualize that data, which previously lived on a GitHub page in its raw format. The Language Explorer is an interactive 3D globe created with WebGL. As the data grows, this site will update alongside it.
